Reverend Drew Brewer

Parsonage: (931)796-1212

Pastor Brewer has been an United Methodist Elder for twenty-six years in many churches throughout the states of Tennessee and Kentucky. He has shepherded the First United Methodist Church of Hohenwald, Tennessee for seven years and has devoted himself to this community, by not only preaching the sermons and presiding over the services, but also by leading the Sunday School, and multiple Bible studies; visiting the sick at their homes, in the hospitals, or in the nursing homes; and praying with his fellow members for the the community and helps devise newer and better ways to serve the Church and community and the World at large.

Pastor Brewer was born in Jackson, Tennessee.

"Life seems to be so created that it is our nature to need one another, to walk together with one another. We see this in the ways we band together as families and as friends, in the ways that all people turn to one another in times of sorrow or joy. And, if we are Christians, that fellowship has dimensions of meaning not found anywhere else. Luke tells us in the Book of Acts (Acts 2:24), 'They who believed were together, of one spirit.' We need each other. We really do. There is no way around that fact. It is silly and defeating to think that we can make it by ourselves. God created us for community.

"'Blest be the ties that binds...' so the hymn goes. Well, there is such a tie--and it is blessed. The early Christian Church was like an island in a vast, hostile sea. Fellowship with one another was a precious thing. A follower of Jesus Christ, meeting a stranger on the road, not knowing if that stranger was a fellow Christian or of some hostile camp, would often, with his staff, make the shape of a fish or a cross in the dust at his feet, watching for any reaction from the other person. If the stranger showed no recognition of these signals, the conversation moved in casual channels, and soon each person went his own way. But if that symbol was indentified, there was an embrace and great rejoicing there on the road! A very special thing had happened--a Christian had met a Christian! These people actually needed one another! Can we come close to imagining what that fellowship meant to them? Should our fellowship with one another mean any less to us?

"And what a great privilege to be a part of this particular community--Hohenwald First United Methodist Church! In my sixth year as pastor here, I have found this church to be a loving, caring, commited community, where the practice of hospitality is practiced daily.

Remember to pray for one another, to cherish one another, and to thank God for the great honor of being a small part of this ministry together."
